Some of my favorite actors will never be nominated for Oscars. They’ll never even be nominated for an MTV Teen Choice Award. Well, maybe if they’re lucky… My point is, Disney and MTV and Nickelodeon and their affiliated networks have a lot of great talent that never quite makes it out of the pool into the real world of film.

Sometimes, actors like william russ of boy meets world make it beyond the box they’ve been placed it, but only if they have a look that’s malleable enough to work in a setting outside of a kid’s show. William Russ made it because he could play characters that were far less Disney than Alan Matthews.

However, there are some characters, like Spencer on iCarly, who are so deeply in that role it’s going to be hard for them to break out of that image and do new stuff. They still might not be nominated for Oscars, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve one.
